Printable Cute Halloween Banners

These free Halloween bats and flags work together to create adorable, brightly colored Halloween banners. They're great for people who think they don't know how to make Halloween decorations because they're so easy.

You can mix and match the orange, black and pink striped flags and the pink polka dot flags with the fun "demented bats" to create whatever combinations you want. You could even create cute banner decorations that have just flags and or just bats. They also are designed to mix-and-match with my other Halloween printables (treat bag toppers, an invitation, cupcake toppers and a votive lampshade), which you'll find linked at the bottom of the page.

You'll need free Adobe PDF Reader software to view the file. You can download it here. Scroll down to read the instructions.

Instructions

1. Download the printable Halloween bats and flags from the large pink link above and save them to your hard drive. You'll need free Adobe Acrobat software to open the files. Don't worry; it's easy to install and use.

2. Print the files, using as card stock that's as thick as your printer will take. I actually used this glossy photo paper for the samples and I was pleased with the way it worked. But you can also use this matte presentation paper or the equivalent if you don't want a shiny look.

3. The Halloween flags can be easily cut using a paper cutter, a craft knife and straight edge or scissors. I recommend sharped, curved manicure scissors to cut around the bats though. There's a pale gray line that will guide you if want a white border, or you can just trim right up to the black edge. I used the white border on the samples because I thought it made the bats "pop."

4. To make the demented Halloween bats even more demented looking, you can add peel-and-stick googly eyes. I purchased mine from Amazon.com. I thought they added just the right amount of cute Halloween silliness!

5. Once all your pieces are cut, punch holes in the bats' wings and the corners of the flags. Don't get too close to the edge on any of them or they'll tear. There are also alternate methods of stringing them together mentioned in Step 6.

6. Now you can tie the flags and bats together. I made my banner by alternating bats with flags, taking care to alternate the striped and polka dot flag patterns and the two different bat eye colors. But you don't have to use the same pattern as I did. Feel free to use your imagination!

I used 15" strips of black and white striped ribbon pulled through the punched holes and then tied into bows, but you can use other ribbon colors, or you could tape, glue or staple the pieces to a length of ribbon. You could also thread a length of ribbon, string or twine through the holes to string everything together.

7. To hang your banners, you can use string, twine or more ribbon to create ties on the ends. You can also do what I did, which was to use doubled-over blue painter's tape to stick the banner to both a wall and a fireplace mantel.
